Using Career Development Services - Staff

Again, the key to navigating through this site is the Career Development Navigator which can be found at the left hand side of every page.

The career development navigator is organized in a fashion where you start at in the top right hand quadrant and then work your way around. Below is a step by step guide to career development.

  1. Start at the Self Assessment & Readiness page.
    • If you are unaware of your true strengths, interests or even preferences, the assessment section of this page will point you to some great tools to help you sort these things out. Some of the tools are free and others are available at a nominal fee.
    • Once you have a good feeling for the direction you would like to go with your career, you can check out the readiness page. It has some tools to help you define a strategy for going after a job.
  2. Once you have a good idea of the types of careers you are interested in, you can move on to Career Exploration.
    • There are plenty of resources linked from this page to help with the entire career development process
  3. You may or may not find that you need some training an/or development. The Professional Development section provides links to local training and development resources.
  4. The Job Search Preparation quadrant will help you with information about finding jobs, preparing your resume and conducting yourself in the interview.
