Human Resources and Affirmative Action
Provides leadership and service in all aspects of human resource management, including recruitment and retention of faculty & staff; equal employment opportunity and affirmative action; development of the skills and abilities of faculty and staff, including personal excellence in leadership and management.

    Recruiting and Employment Services
    Assists with recruitment, employment, promotion and transfer of individuals for executive, academic, professional/administrative, office, service/maintenance, trades, operating engineers, security and police positions.     Human Resource Development
    HRD offers services and courses to support ongoing organization and staff development. HRD helps the university support career development by creating stronger linkages between employee development and unit goals, providing career development related courses geared to the changing needs of UM employees, providing management training and individual or group coaching for managers and supervisors to assist them with their leadership and managerial skills, providing customized courses to meet university department needs, providing linkages to a growing number of training programs and resources in other departments. HRD also has expertise in designing custom career related programs for departments such as mentoring, career plateauing, career planning, and job mechanics including areas such as interviewing and resume writing.     Faculty and Staff Assistance Program
    Offers short term counseling and support for faculty and/or staff with addressing their emotional needs while making career decisions. FASAP staff can assist you with the psychological aspects of managing change and transitions as they make career decisions or when they are required to due to reduction in force. In addition, the program can help an individual with building a support system while they are in a transition phase. FASAP counselors can provide guidance in how to interact with one's family, colleagues and friends as they make career decisions. Making career decisions and changes often cause stress and anxiety that FASAP staff can help you address. FASAP services are strictly confidential, at no cost to you.

Center for the Education of Women (CEW)
CEW is open to men and women, whether part of the campus community or the general community. Career resources available include: a career resource library, individual counseling by appointment or on a walk-in basis, programs on career and related issues, information on financial aid and scholarships, U of M resources and procedures, and local and national networks. Small emergency grants are available for UM students.
CEW is located at 330 East Liberty, near S. Division, on the second floor of the Michigan Square Building. Hours are Monday 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Phone # is 998-7080.

Career Center
The Career Center library is open to the University community and provides access to a wide array of career and employer information and job search materials. While the Career Center services are designed primarily to meet the needs of UM students and alumni, community members wishing to use selected services are certainly welcome to inquire at the Career Center about availability and charges. Career assessment testing and counseling appointments are most accessible to community members during the Spring and Summer (May-August).

The Career Center is located at 3200 Student Activities Building (corner of Jefferson and Thompson) in Ann Arbor. Hours during the academic year are 8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Phone: (734) 764-7460

Alumni Career Center
The Alumni Career Center offers a variety of career development services to its Alumni, many of which are available to UM staff and, on a more limited basis, members of the community. Check for information and/or fees for its career development workshops, career assessment including testing, career resource center, and Alumni Job Connection and Network. Information Technology Division (ITD)
ITD ffers a wide variety of computer educational opportunities ranging from introductory workshops to advanced courses. University faculty, staff, and registered students are eligible for all ITD workshops. Non-University participants are welcome to attend workshops as space permits and as registered attendees at any Saturday class. Check ITD's web site for a complete listing of workshops and registration information.
