Children’s Center Infant Program Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2007

The University of Michigan Children’s Center is thrilled to announce its new infant program beginning September 2007.  It is with great pride that we announce this new program in response to President Mary Sue Coleman’s commitment to child care services at the University of Michigan, the Child Care Initiative.  President Coleman outlined three specific goals: increasing capacity; developing infant and toddler care and significantly improving the facilities in which these services are offered. 

The University of Michigan Children’s Center’s infant program is a beginning step to accomplishing President Coleman’s goals. Three teachers will provide exemplary, high quality primary care for 16 infants in this freshly renovated space within the Children’s Center.  There will be a class for 8 infants in the morning, Monday through Friday and a class for another 8 infants in the afternoon, Monday through Friday.  The space is being created as we write this. 

We are ready to begin the enrollment process.  Below is the information about the sessions and times.

The program will be for 10 months with an option for 8 weeks in the summer.  Please see the tentative calendar for 2007-2008.

Once your child is enrolled in UMCC, he or she is assured a space for the following years.  All currently enrolled children are enrolled before opening spaces to those on the waiting list.  The toddler program will follow the same schedule for times and days as the infant program.

The Children’s Center provides financial assistance to families who qualify.  Please contact me for information regarding financial assistance.
