eMploy Updates
GOODBYE TARGET FILL DATE REMINDER EMAIL! You asked for it and you got it! The target fill date email reminder messages have been discontinued. This should lighten the load in your email box! And speaking of emails…. Applicants have now started receiving an automated email telling them when the job they have bid on has been filled or closed |
DID YOU KNOW THAT…? The COPY TO A NEW REQUISITION option allows you to copy an existing job requisition to a new one? You may then modify the content of the new requisition to suit your needs. This can be a BIG time saver if you post the same position frequently. Not sure how to do it? Ask your EPC for assistance. eMploy supports the posting of regular positions only, at this time. Temporary positions should not be created through eMploy. |
Internet Explorer V7.0 compatibility resolution expected in November You may be aware that Microsoft has released version 7.0 of Internet Explorer, which is not currently compatible with eMploy. MAIS is testing IE 7.0 fixes in our eMploy staging environment and expect a resolution in November. |
eMploy – Helpful Hints
Creating a Job Requisition
Whether you are a frequent or infrequent user of eMploy, it never hurts to have good resources on hand when creating your job requisitions for posting purposes. With this in mind and coupled with user feedback we’ve received on searching for open jobs, this month’s helpful hint is twofold. First, we have created the recommended Posting Format Template (see below). This format can be copied and pasted into the first several lines of your job description and serves the purpose of giving the University job postings a standard look AND it also puts searchable information into the body of job requisition that is helpful to our internal and external job seekers. We’ve also attached a “cheat sheet” for your reference when completing all those fields in the Job Requisition Creation Wizard. It’s a nice line by line description and definition of the fields we use and don’t use in the job requisition.

Use this in place of Hours/Week for part time positions (note: using the words Part Time in your posting allows the job seeker to search for part time jobs.) |
NOTE: (Use this area for other information such as Seasonal or Term Limited Appointment Information, Unit website URL, request that cover letter be included as page one of the resume, or for Health System PEP language, etc…) |

Correction from October Newsletter
How do I extend an end date from one of my postings? Simply create new & separate Source information, with dates that don’t overlap. Overlapping dates can cause two copies of the same position to be posted. Don’t delete or write over the old lines, you’ll lose the historical information.
**Note: This template and the attached “cheat sheet” can also be downloaded from the UHR webpage at the following URL: http://hr.umich.edu/empserv/deptinfo/employ.html
