Grand Prize Drawings

Fall is a busy time for many of us, which can make staying on a healthy track a challenge. As extra motivation, MHealthy will award six lucky people with a $500 American Express gift card, just for participating in an eligible health and well-being activity between September 1 and October 31, 2014.

More than a dozen MHealthy programs qualify, including:

Registration of the 4th annual Active U Autumn opens Sept. 9. This six-week physical activity program encourages you to get moving at least 30 minutes a day, three or more days per week. Walk, roll, run, play a sport or play with the kids, then track your minutes online. It all counts toward helping your team reach the top of the leaderboard or achieving your personal best. Alcohol Management Program

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the definition of moderate, safer lower-risk drinking for legal adults under the age of 65 is no more than one drink a day for women and no more than two drinks a day for men, but not every day.

With Labor Day right around the corner, spending the long weekend at parties or picnics may also include enjoying an alcoholic beverage or two. Since it's not always easy to know how many alcohol servings are really in one drink, making responsible decisions about alcohol can be a challenge.

Whether you are an experienced athlete or just getting started, regular physical activity can help you live a longer, healthier life and feel your best. MHealthy offers year-round exercise and relaxation classes for faculty, staff and the community at more than 26 campus locations. We've added new specialty classes like Urban Line Dancing, Seated Exercise and Barre Fusion, and added locations for popular classes like Tai Chi, Martial Fitness and Fifty Plus Fitness. And we've already seen positive results from our efforts: satisfaction levels are high (4.6 out of 5), approximately 85% of participants report an increase in their overall physical activity and 87% report an increase of confidence in their ability to maintain or increase their physical activity.
