Active U runs February 3 - April 14, 2009.

Now in its fourth year, Active U is a ten-week physical activity challenge and charity fundraiser open to all faculty, staff, grad students and retirees. And it's geared for every fitness level - walk, swim, do yoga, lift weights, dance or log miles in a wheelchair - it all counts! Join in teams or join on your own, but join in and stay active.

Look what's new for 2009:

  • Active U is now 10 weeks instead of eight.
  • More GRAND prizes - now there are five chances to win, including a $500 cash prize!
  • Teams can now select among 10 divisions to compete in. Each division has a maximum of 50 teams to allow for friendly competition and more success with team rankings.
  • Show participants how you stay active by posting a 20-second video on "Active U-tube."
  • The Activity Tracker now features a running total of logged physical activity minutes by all participants.
  • T-shirts are now given to participants who log activity minutes at least four of the first five weeks.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS...

Form a team or go it alone.
Choose to participate in Active U as an individual or invite other U-M faculty, staff, graduate students or retirees to join as a team. Teams must have a minimum of five (including you) participants and someone must be designated as the team captain. Your team captain will need to register first and supply a team name and email addresses for all potential team members. An email message is then automatically sent to all invited team members asking them to register.

Register.
To participate, you must sign up by 5 p.m. on February 3.
