Why
hire our teMps?
Two reasons – quality and
value.
Quality
— Temporary Staffing Services screens, interviews and
tests all potential teMps to help us place the person with
the right skill level to meet your needs. And with over 30 different
skill tests, we can customize
a testing process to identify the right person for almost
any job. So you get a person who can do the job – and
do it right.
Value —
We are part of the University and exist to serve it. We are
not out to make profits or meet monthly placement goals.
What does a teMp from TSS cost?
Significantly less, in almost all
cases, than outside vendor alternatives. In addition to the
hourly pay rate, your cost will include a $64 monthly fee
per temporary employee billed to your account (one and two
day assignments are billed at $32). This is less than 40 cents an hour for a temporary working 40 hours a week for one month!
If the position ends prior to the 15th of the month, the fee
for that month is $32.
What if I want to hire your person
full-time?
Wonderful.
And we won’t ask for a placement fee. Try getting that
deal with an outside vendor!
What campuses do you serve?
TSS provides service primarily to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor campus including the Medical Center, but we can also assist with placements at Dearborn and Flint and other off-campus University areas as well.
What types of positions can you
fill?
Almost any. For the most part, we place temporary employees in Office/Clerical, Professional/Administrative and Service/Maintenance positions. Plus we also have resources to fill Technical positions.
What if you can’t find me
someone?
We will. If there is a person with
the right skills in the area, we’ll find them for you.
Even if we don’t have a person that is right for you,
we will
assist you in contacting a prime vendor.
What about paperwork and forms?
Once we have identified a temporary
employee for your position, we will complete all
necessary government
and hiring forms. You need only submit
the temporary employee's time card following your department’s
payroll procedures.
What if I want to hire a temporary
employee on my own? No
problem. But there is a bit of paperwork.
- You must have them complete and submit
a Temporary Employment Form
- Your department needs to complete the
lower section of the form, and secure funding signatures
- Include the appropriate information
pertaining to the temporary’s job classification title,
job classification number and salary information which must
be taken from the Temporary Employment Classification and
Salary Guidelines available from UHR’s Compensation
and Classification Unit
