Lactation Rooms at U-M Ann Arbor
The Work/Life Resource Center does not monitor or maintain these rooms. Please address any questions about the individual rooms to the contact person listed in the entry for that room.
KEY: 1 Star (*) = available for use but not recommended by the UofM Work/Life Resource Center, to 5 Stars (*****) = highly recommended by the Work/Life Resource Center.
(*) Located in a restroom, but still available for use if there is no other option.

(***) In a private room that is not in a restroom, offers a few amenities such as a chair, table or a pump.
(****) In a private space, offers many amenities. (such as furniture that can be sanitized, sink, microwave for sterilizing pump equipment, space is well thought out with nursing mothers in mind. Space is kept clean and added to a regular cleaning schedule).
(*****) Private space designed with nursing mothers in mind, offers a clean, comfortable space with lighting, temperature control all conducive to efficient pumping. Offers reading materials, work space, internet connection. Possible refrigerator for storage of pumped milk. Chairs that can be sanitized, locked doors sink and is on a regular cleaning schedule.
- Please note that this rating system gives a point of reference- a four star room may not have every amenity listed, but because it is clean and close to a source of water it may receive a higher rating.

Room 7021 has been designated a personal care/lactation room, with a locking door, electrical outlets, couches and tables, available to be used for lactation accommodation. It has a permanent sign on the exterior corridor which allows the occupant to designate the space as “occupied." A commercial pump is located in the first floor unisex bathroom in the southwest hallway. Requires own attachments. |

Breastpump Rooms for staff in the University of Michigan Hospitals
For the University of Michigan Hospitals Breastpump rooms you will need an Ameda Egnell Double Pump Kit to attach to the electric pump provided, if you are not providing your own electric pump. The Ameda Egnell kits can be purchased from the MedEquip or Busch’s Pharmacies. In addition to your pump kit, you will need to provide bottles or some other suitable storage container for your milk. There is no milk storage space provided in any of these pump rooms. MedEquip is located at 2850 South Industrial Road in Ann Arbor, 971-0975. You can also rent a commercial breast pump from that location.
