Start the new year using the principles of intuitive eating. Registration for January and early February sessions of "Nourish Your Whole Self" is now open.

The free, 12-week nutrition-based program is designed to help you tune into your body and mind and reconnect with the sensations that arise from within. With this awareness, you are better able to make choices that help you feel nourished. Best of all, you will learn how to be thankful for your body and find joy in movement.

A new session starts each week, January 15, January 22, January 29 and February 5. To allow for a more personalized experience, space is limited to 90 participants. Nourish Your Whole Self is open to U-M faculty or staff members.

One-on-one personalized coaching, and more

Once enrolled, an MHealthy coach trained in Intuitive Eating (IE) will support and guide you throughout the 12-week program.

Your coach will:

  • Work with you to define your goal and then help you achieve it.

  • Connect with you one-on-one (via Zoom, telephone, email) on a regular basis to answer your questions, provide support, and give you the tools needed to make informed choices.

  • Identify the tools that may be the most important for you.

In addition to personalized coaching, you will also receive weekly videos and worksheets focused on intuitive eating principles, such as rejecting the diet mentality, honoring your hunger, coping with your emotions with kindness, respecting your body and more.

"A much better relationship with food"

A growing body of research supports shifting the focus away from dieting and weight loss towards a more mindful approach. Since Nourish’s launch in 2021, there has been overwhelming interest from the U-M community.

"Talking through issues I was having and having an unbiased opinion to listen to (was helpful)," says one participant. "This whole experience and having (my coach) to talk to was beyond insightful and helpful! I have a much better relationship with food than I did."

Says another past participant, "My coach allowed me to make choices about my health and create a plan that met my individual needs. I really liked being empowered to make my own decisions about my eating and lifestyle. I had a really great coach, who was very supportive, empathetic and caring."
