National Women’s Health Week from May 14-20 is an annual reminder for women and girls to focus on all facets of their health. This year’s theme is “#KNOWHmore About Your Health, Today and Every Day.”

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, major health risks to women include caregiver depression and anxiety; intimate partner violence; drug overdose; and more.

Prevent to Protect

Get the most of your U-M Health Plan by using benefits that help prevent, detect and manage women-specific medical conditions. Many of these benefits are offered at no cost to benefit-eligible members, including:

  • Breast cancer mammography screening
  • Cervical cancer screening
  • Sexually transmitted infections (STD) screening
  • Skin cancer screening (with copay) and counseling (no cost share)
  • Diabetes Prevention Programs
  • Wellness check for high blood pressure, heart health, stroke health and more

View a complete list of services covered for women of all ages through U-M’s Health Plans.

To get a baseline on your current health, meet with your primary care practitioner for an annual exam. All U-M Health Plans cover annual preventive visits at 100% with no cost share.
