In the busyness of life or when faced with difficult events, it can be difficult to slow down and find the time to replenish your attention and energy. However, making time to rest and recover from stress is essential to your well-being. One way to care for yourself and find moments of calm is through mindfulness and relaxation practices. Try practicing daily mindfulness and see if it's right for you.

A simple way to start is by signing up for Take 5 to Focus, a well-being program on the MHealthy Portal. It encourages you to take short breaks with brief relaxation and meditation recordings. The MHealthy Portal tracks your progress, so all you need to do is focus on your practice of mindfulness.

“Making regular space for rest and calm, even for a few minutes, is a way to practice self-compassion and attend to your well-being,” said Kelcey Stratton, chief behavioral health strategist, University Human Resources. “This program offers a simple yet structured way to help you pause, restore, and refocus.”

Take a moment now to register for Take 5 to Focus. The program is underway now and continues through May 19. Select a short recording (about 5 minutes) each workday for four weeks and learn if mindfulness is helpful for you.

“Take 5 is also a good way to get into the mindset of supporting May’s Mental Health Awareness Month, ” adds Kelcey. “I encourage everyone to take part and open the conversation about mental health and emotional well-being.”
