Additional Information
GSIs who are appointed to this position are expected to attend all lectures and all of their assigned discussion sections, be at lectures and their discussion sections on time, be prepared (complete the readings and have plans/ideas for how they will run discussion sections) for weekly planning meetings and discussion sections, and complete assigned tasks on time. Grading should be completed as per the times specified on the syllabus. GSIs are expected to grade materials and provide feedback to students in a timely manner. GSIs are also expected to be at the location specified for office hours on time and for the duration of office hours. If GSIs have to set up equipment, etc. for lectures or their own discussion sections, they are expected to do early enough so that lectures/discussions can begin on time. GSIs are expected to keep good attendance records (for lectures, discussion sections and office hours) and a careful record of students' grades.
The pay period runs from September 2, 2008 - December 18, 2008. All GSIs must be ready to assume their responsibilities in the course beginning September 2nd, 2008.
Estimated FTE: Three positions with .50 fraction
Min Qualifications: Prior CAAS courses (Good grades in these courses are expected). Good writing style. Ability to analyze readings well. Ability to work well with students from many racial and ethnic backgrounds.
