Any GSI appointment is made on the basis of the student's academic performance, experience, and fit for the particular teaching subject. In late Spring, a list of the available GSI positions for the coming year (both Fall and Winter) is emailed to the current SI doctoral students. Students respond by email and indicate their ranked choices for teaching courses. The Director of the Doctoral Program and the Doctoral Program Manager determine GSI selections based upon student choice rankings, qualifications, funding source, and advisor/instructor input.
