Early Childhood Education: The Michigan Difference

Building on its long history of valuing and excelling at early childhood education, research and service through its nationally accredited Children’s Centers, the University of Michigan is increasing capacity, developing new infant and toddler programs, and enhancing the facilities in which these services are offered.

The University of Michigan Children’s Centers currently serve over 800 children, ranging in age from infants to age five. U-M child care centers are located on and or near the Ann Arbor central and north campuses, close to the University of Michigan Health System, and on the campuses of U-M Flint and Dearborn.

Research & Training Support

The University of Michigan Early Childhood Programs support the overall mission of the University by providing research, training and observation opportunities for faculty and students. The Centers are an invaluable resource for the University’s scholarly agendas and each year host approximately 15 research projects, resulting in about 600 hours of research activity.
