Posting a Position

The text of the posting is divided into three sections: Duties, DeptQuals, and MinQuals.

  1. Duties. Be sure to include notes in the duties section for any special circumstances such as appointment information, hours, shifts, limited term appointment, travel, offsite locations, weekend work, overtime, etc. Includes level of supervision, customer interaction to be performed as appropriate.
  2. DeptQuals. Share information on the level of education needed, special knowledge sought, desired skill set or technical expertise, amount of prior related work or instructional experience necessary. Note: This information should be available from the Position Description when created or from the last update/reclass.
  3. MinQuals. MinQuals are defaulted from the standard University job classificiation descriptions and may not be changed.

A posting prepared by the hiring supervisor should be reviewed by your Human Resources Representative prior to formal posting. The Job Requisition is often used as documentation if a challenge to the hiring decision is made. Be concise and specific in describing the work and relevant qualifications. You will have the ability to cut and paste to populate the different fields from historical postings.
