Challenging Coworkers to Place a High Value on Health

Greg Lambert, Wellness Coordinator for Facilities and Operations (F&O), is a magnetic man with a smile that lights up a room. It's a smile he flashes freely—along with a warm handshake and welcoming air that makes people feel good about lining up to get a flu shot in anticipation of a long winter, or taking advantage of a free health or fitness screening to learn how fit or out of shape they are, or participating in one of the many fitness/charity challenge programs he's organized over the past six years to motivate staff members to appreciate their health and take steps to improve and preserve it.

"Take Time to Get Healthy" Urges Wellness Coordinator Colleen Greene

Colleen Greene photoAs the Michigan Healthy Community (MHC) Wellness Coordinator, Colleen Greene not only makes sure other employees reap the benefits of a healthy lifestyle; she gives her own heart rate a boost at the same time. Greene runs physical activity programs such as Active U and Get in the Game, coordinates special fitness events, works as a personal trainer and leads relaxation and exercise classes that are open to all U-M Health System and University employees and to the general public.

Golf Facilities (U-M has two golf courses, the U-M Golf Course, located at the corner of W. Stadium and Main Street, is open to faculty and staff of all University of Michigan campuses on a daily green-fees basis. Radrick Farms is a members-only course, open to faculty, staff, and alumni. There are also a number of other golf courses in the area, both public and private.)
